Great Dane Trailers Recalls Nearly 350 Units Over Axle Issue

Great Dane Announces Recall of Model Year 2024 Champion Trailers

Great Dane Trailers has recently issued a recall for approximately 346 of its model year 2024 Champion trailers. This recall, announced in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) documents, is due to a potentially serious axle issue. The concern is that the axle spindle nut may not have been properly tightened during manufacturing.

A loose axle spindle nut poses significant risks for both the trailer and other road users. If the nut is not secure, it can lead to the wheel detaching from the trailer. Such a detachment can drastically increase the likelihood of a crash, presenting a serious safety hazard on the road.

Great Dane's Response and Customer Service Commitment

In response to this issue, Great Dane has committed to inspecting the affected trailers and tightening the axle spindle nut as necessary. This service will be provided free of charge to trailer owners. The company plans to send out owner notification letters by February 10. For further assistance, owners can reach out to Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493. The official NHTSA recall number for this issue is 23V-839.
