Volvo Trucks North America is preparing to make headlines in New Orleans. At the prestigious American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council’s (TMC) 2024 Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition, a significant revelation awaits. From March 4-7, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, this event will proudly present the first public unveiling of the all-new Volvo VNL model. Consequently, this occasion marks a transformative moment in the trucking industry.
At the TMC conference, attendees are in for a delightful experience. Firstly, they will be among the first to encounter the all-new Volvo VNL. Located at the Volvo Trucks booth (No. 2413), this exhibit will offer visitors a close-up view of the VNL 840 74-inch mid-roof sleeper. This model features the innovative Edge interior and exterior trim, showcasing Volvo’s commitment to cutting-edge design and functionality.
Furthermore, Volvo Trucks plans to expand its display beyond just the VNL. Importantly, the latest model of the Class 8 Volvo VNR Electric truck will also be featured, highlighting Volvo’s dedication to eco-friendly trucking solutions.
Peter Voorhoeve, President of Volvo Trucks North America, shared his excitement: “Presenting the all-new Volvo VNL at TMC is an honor. This truck exemplifies our commitment to driver comfort and enhanced serviceability. Additionally, our team has worked tirelessly to develop a vehicle that addresses the evolving needs of drivers and sets new standards in efficiency and uptime.”
Voorhoeve emphasized essential innovations like the new 24-volt electrical architecture and an improved exhaust aftertreatment system (EATS). These developments, combined with Volvo’s connected services, aim to simplify maintenance and increase efficiency. Notably, the all-new Volvo VNL achieves up to 10% greater fuel efficiency than its 2018 version, aligning with fleet decarbonization efforts.
Volvo Trucks has innovatively redesigned the spec’ing process for the Volvo VNL series. Now, customers have a variety of choices in interior and exterior trims, powertrain options, safety features, and technology packages. This new approach ensures that each truck can be tailored to specific brand identities and operational needs, while also upholding high standards of quality control and efficient assembly.
In addition to the VNL, the Volvo VNR Electric model will also be highlighted. Since its launch in December 2020, this Class 8 truck has made a notable impact in North America with its zero-tailpipe emissions and quiet operation. The showcased Volvo VNR Electric, equipped with a six-battery pack, represents a perfect blend of power and efficiency.
These innovative models underscore Volvo Trucks’ commitment to a more sustainable and efficient future in trucking. The TMC 2024 event is an excellent opportunity to experience these groundbreaking vehicles firsthand.
